From Dagstuhl to a preprint on agentic AI in cybersecurity

In April 2026 I attended my first Dagstuhl seminar, the Perspectives Workshop Autonomous AI Agents in Computer Security (26162), held at Schloss Dagstuhl on April 12–17.

Out of the discussions at the workshop grew a joint work, Rising From the Ashes: How Agentic AI is Unblocking Challenges in Cybersecurity, co-authored with Gabriela F. Ciocarlie, Kathrin Grosse, Somesh Jha, Andrew Paverd, and Christian Wressnegger, now available as a preprint on arXiv.

In the paper, we identify limitations that have rendered various cybersecurity approaches ineffective or inefficient, and map them to agentic AI capabilities that can help overcome these limitations.
